Pauli, What a wonderful hostess
you are. Your home is so comfortable and inviting and
warm. You make us feel right at home. It was a
lot more than I expected for my first stay at a B&B.
You are just the opposite of what I expected, and what a
beautiful warm smile you have. You have a wealth of
knowledge about the Island and its residents. Fact or
fiction, some of the stories are fascinating. You
should write a book for your patrons. Best wishes and
thank you for everything.
—Rex
and Shirley Marshall, Cambridge, MD |

Dear Pauli, This certainly was a
nice getaway for all of us. You have been so warm and
welcoming. You have a beautiful B&B. The
furnishings and decor are very interesting and unique.
It's fun to look around at everything. Being on Smith
Island is very relaxing. Away from the hustle and
bustle of life is very nice. I knew you were going to
be a wonderful hostess just by talking to you over the phone
and arranging this vacation! Thanks so much for all
you have done for us, especially talking with my Mom (Jean).
She has thoroughly enjoyed herself. Now we can tell
everyone that Smith Island is a nice place to vacation.
—Barbara Marshall, Cambridge, MD, June 26, 2007 |

Pauli, This is a lovely place to
have a B&B and I am having so much fin with Bart and family.
It was fun feeding the mallards last night and touring the
island in a golf cart. We counted 7 cats. I love
this place and the hostess in my opinion is tops. She
makes you feel at home instantly and that is a skill not
everyone has. I'm going to tell everyone about this
place when I get home.
Many thanks, Pauli,

I have stayed at many B and B's, but yours is my

this world. I really do think you should consider
changing the name to The Jewel of The Chesapeake because
it certainly is a jewel. Thank you for a wonderful
stay.

Relaxing is the word.
Peaceful, quiet and more than comfortable. Couldn't
ask for a better corner of the world to take some
"downtime". Thanks, Steve, for creating this special
corner. Even enjoyed the flood tides that made us
realize the challenges of living on an island. We look
forward to seeing you again soon.

First time ever for catching a
fish! My husband and I had a great time together.
First time away from the kids! This was a great place
to relax and get to know each other better! People and
dinner were wonderful. Tom's boat ride was especially
nice.

Steve, you're the "best".
You made our stay a time we will never forget! The
kayaks were an A+. We enjoyed the channel as we
paddled in and out. Thank you for telling us about
"Tim". We had a great time with him. Al got to
see the bald eagles. They were fascinating as a
peregrin flew right over the baot and we could have almost
touched it. Your inn is beautiful. We had so
much fun with the other guests at the marina and at the inn.
It felt like home. We were able to get away from the
daily stresses of life and enjoy the simple things that give
you so much bliss. We all chipped in and did the
puzzle again. It felt like a family night out!
Thanks again for the pictures. You will not be
forgotten and we will spread the inn's name around to family
and friends.
